The devices in the new Garmin eTrex series are the first consumer receivers capable of simultaneously tracking GPS and GLONASS satellites. GLONASS is a system developed by the Russian Federation. And when both GPS and GLONASS systems are used, the receiver uses 24 more satellites than GPS alone.
