Download Canon EOS 70D Manual will familiarize you how to use the camera properly. The Canon EOS 70D is equipped with a new 20.2 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor for an excellent balance between increased resolution and optimized noise. The resultant picture quality with low noise and the large ISO range of 100 - 12,800 (expandable up to ISO 25,600) make it an ideal camera for a wide range of shooting motifs and high-resolution photo print. The 14-bit high-speed signal conversion combined with the powerful Canon DIGIC 5+ processor ensures fine color gradations and natural colors. Reading the image data over eight channels supports fast series recording at up to seven frames per second at full resolution. The Canon EOS 70D sensor has a color filter, which is designed for a higher light transmittance of new materials. In combination with optimized amplifiers at the pixel level, the Canon EOS 70D is capable of recording images with higher ISO sensitivity while maintaining excellent image quality compared to the previous models.

The sensor also provides the world's first Canon Dual-Pixel CMOS AF technology for fast, sensed, phase-locked autofocus (AF) in live view mode and quiet focus tracking in full-HD video recording. The Canon EOS 70D is equipped with a 19-point AF system with 19 cross sensors for fast and precise focusing over the entire shooting range - ideal for recording fast action motifs. All 19 measuring fields of the Canon EOS 70D AF sensor are especially suited for precision tracking as sensitive cross sensors for lenses up to a light intensity of 1: 5.6, the central AF measuring field even as a high-sensitivity diagonal cross sensor for a light intensity of up to 1: 2.8. Three different AF modes are available in the Canon EOS 70D: Single-field AF (manual selection): Each of the 19 AF measurement fields can be selected individually. Zone AF (manual selection): The AF meters are linked into five groups, each of which can be selected so that only the AF fields of the appropriate group are used for automatic focus for the desired image composition. 19-point AF (automatic selection): In AF mode One Shot, the camera automatically focuses on the closest subject. The AI Servo AF mode allows you to select the appropriate AF point for the subject to start the focus. The Canon EOS 70D will then use all 19 measurement fields over the entire image area to adjust the focus on the subject.
It is also possible to determine an AF field or an AF measuring range, which is linked to the current camera orientation. For example, a single AF field can be selected and activated for the transversal photograph. If you then photograph in the portrait format, an alternative area can be determined. This allows the development of different focus techniques depending on the motif and its motion. The custom functions of the Canon EOS 70D enable the response behavior and speed of the tracking system to be adjusted as well as the ratio of trigger priority and focus. The camera can be added to the micro-adjustment for up to 40 lenses to select the settings according to your own preferences or shot. When using zoom lenses, adjustments can be made for the maximum wide angle and telephoto range. This can be done differently even for two identical lenses since the Canon EOS 70D recognizes the lenses by means of the serial number. The intelligent viewfinder of the Canon EOS 70D offers an image coverage of approximately 98 percent, a magnification of approximately 0.95 (angle of approximately 27.9 degrees) and an exit pupil of approximately 22 millimeters.
