The FujiFilm GFX 50S and the FUJINON GF series together form a system with which the highest possible photographic quality can be achieved. It has been developed for photographers who are not satisfied with the image quality and the functioning of current cameras and who want to achieve a new quality level with their recordings. The FujiFilm GFX 50S and the GF lenses can be ordered from the end of February 2017 at selected specialist dealers. Pre-orders are now possible. The FujiFilm GFX 50S has a medium format sensor with 51.4 megapixels. It is about 1.7 times larger than a small image format sensor ("full format"). Its strengths are particularly evident in large format advertising, majestic landscape images or the documentation of historical documents. Compared to high-definition cameras with comparable high resolution and sensitivity, the FujiFilm GFX 50S offers significantly better performance since the individual pixels on the medium format sensor are larger. The results are images of very high quality with excellent detail reproduction and a high tonal value range as are only possible with a large sensor format.

The sensor offers a basic sensitivity of ISO 100 and is therefore predestined for use in conjunction with a powerful studio light system as well as the flashlight in on-location shootings. Since a larger aperture can be selected, flash exposures with low sharpening depth are also possible. The widely proven X processor Pro, which is already used in the two flagship models X-Pro2 and X-T2, is also used in the FujiFilm GFX 50S. Among other things, it enables the application of popular film simulations. This allows the coloring and gradation of analogous FUJIFILM slide and negative films (color and black-and-white) to be imitated. In combination with the large medium format sensor, the different film looks can now be enjoyed for the first time in extremely high-resolution pictures.

The FujiFilm GFX 50S also features the new "Color Chrome" function, which allows the color depth and contrast of very color-intensive motifs to be reproduced in full even in difficult light situations. The camera can store the images in three JPEG formats (SUPERFINE, FEIN, NORMAL) as well as in two RAW formats (uncompressed, compressed). The integrated RAW converter also allows you to output the images in TIFF format. In video mode, the camera supports the following Full HD formats: 1920 × 1080, (29.96p / 25p / 24p / 23.98p) up to 36 Mbps. This allows the user to record high-quality video footage with unique color reproduction and artistic sharpening depth - a creative space that is made possible by a large sensor in conjunction with film simulations.
