All LUMIX G interchangeable cameras use a contrast autofocus system on the sensor for automatic focus. In principle, this autofocus system is more accurate than the phase detection systems of conventional SLR cameras which operate with a separate AF sensor. Thanks to the high response speed of its sensor and image processor, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3 offers a fast focusing time of only 0.1s. This means that even with fast-moving motifs you always catch the perfect moment.

The 16-megapixel LiveMOSSensor and the Venus Engine image processor guarantee the highest picture quality, even with low light and higher ISOWerte. The result is great photos and videos with natural colors. Color noise is fixed not only in surfaces but also at edges.

The electronic viewfinder image comes directly from the sensor and - like the LCD monitor - shows everything the lens is currently recording. With its 100% image field, nothing is cut off at the edges. The ability to see the image as well as the displayed screen depends on the search magnifier. Here the Lumix G3 shines with an effective magnification factor of 0.7x. In addition, the G3 achieves an above-average viewfinder resolution of 1.44 megapixels.

The touch-sensitive 7.5 cm (3 ") LCD monitor of the G3 can be tilted 180 ° sideways and rotated 270 ° about its horizontal axis. This makes the G3, together with the TouchAutofocus operation, particularly flexible when selecting the shooting perspectives. The high resolution of 460,000 image points and the 100% image field display of the LCD monitor guarantee excellent recognizability and reliable image control.

To start an HDVideo recording, press the DirectStart button. The LUMIX G3 records full HD videos with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels in 50i mode (FullHD (1,920 x 1,080) Movies are output with 25p from the sensor and recorded with 50i). During video recording, focusing can be performed continuously and with AF tracking, while the fast TouchAFS control, for example, for a sharp focus shift in the image with a simple fingertip The monitor.

In principle, the LUMIX DSLM in the MicroFourThirds standard allows for significantly more compact and lighter cameras and lenses. The newly designed Lumix G3 aluminum case is about 25% more compact than the predecessor model and is extremely stable. An ergonomically shaped rubberized handle guarantees a secure hold.

A large selection of different lenses & accessories allows photos and videos with special effects, perspectives, and moods. The currently available LUMIX MicroFourThirds lenses are smaller and lighter than other interchangeable cameras due to the MFTS standard. A lot of other lenses available on the market can be used via Panasonic bayonet adapters or other accessory specialists.
